Hanson's dam safety-related products and services Hanson's award-winning geotechnical staff has designed, rehabilitated and inspected numerous earth and concrete dams nationwide and in several foreign countries. This record includes inspection of 108 dams in Illinois and Missouri for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of the National Dam Safety Program. Hanson is internationally recognized for its geotechnical expertise, and has been providing geotechnical engineering services to government and industry for more than 50 years. We provide geotechnical, structural and hydraulic engineering services on flood control projects including hydroelectric dams. Our hydroelectric dam experience includes the Rincon Dam, Hatillo Dam, Moncion Dam and Sabaneta Dam for the National Institute for Hydraulic Research in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We also have provided investigative and design services for more than 100 new and existing dams, levees and impoundment structures throughout Illinois. For new dams, Hanson has completed area reconnaissance studies to determine the most favorable location for a proposed dam based on geologic, subsurface and hydrologic/hydraulic information. After the most favorable location has been selected, more detailed investigations were completed to finalize all design features and to prepare plans and specifications. For existing dams, Hanson has been retained to investigate and develop recommendations for the repair of geotechnical, hydraulic and structural problems. This has varied from seepage, piping and erosion and stability problems to hydraulic and structural deficiencies. At a number of projects, we developed plans and specifications for repair and supervised construction. Hanson has completed 28 phase I inspections for existing dams for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. We are in the process of investigating 16 existing levees along the Spoon River for the Rock Island District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
