Rick Scott is a Senior Managing Engineer at McMillen Inc. bringing over 40 years of experience emphasizing dam safety and heavy civil, hydraulic, and geotechnical engineering. Rick has been involved with all phases—the assessment, design, construction, and operations/management of various dams and other water-related structures. In addition to his inspections, he has managed the implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies and has also been responsible for safety and security. He also has provided oversight for safety programs on active power plant operations.
Prior to his arrival at McMillen in 2018, Rick worked for Dam Safety Intelligence/Damwatch Engineering Ltd. located in New Zealand for 2-1/2 years and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for 33 years serving in numerous positions throughout the western United States. At Dam Safety Intelligence/Damwatch, Rick was a Principal Dam Safety Engineer. The most recent positions he held at Reclamation were Regional Dam Safety Officer for the Upper Colorado Region, Regional Engineer for the Lower Colorado Region and Office Engineer for the Upper Colorado Region’s Provo Area Office.
Rick received his Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Utah and his Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis from Brigham Young University.
