Michael Crouch, currently a senior water resources engineer at RTI International has more than 18 years of experience in the water resources field. He is adept at unsteady hydraulic modeling, in particular, dam breach analysis and downstream consequence estimation including direct and indirect economic losses. Through his career, Mr. Crouch has performed and or managed nearly 200 hydraulic modeling studies involving dam breach analysis for various federal agencies and power companies. His recent work has included dam breach and consequence analysis studies for dams owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), New Brunswick Power, Eagle Creek, Sunwater Limited (Australia), Southern California Edison and Consumers Energy. Mr. Crouch has been extensively involved with RTI’s support of TVA’s downstream consequences assessments since 2014 and helped to transition the program into use of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Hydrologic Engineer Center (HEC) Flood Impact Analysis (FIA) software for the Pickwick Landing Dam risk project and more recently into the HEC-LifeSim framework.
