Andy Deichert, State Conservation Engineer, NRCS West Virginia
Graduated from Penn State University with MS and BS Agricultural Engineering Degrees.
Started with NRCS in 1993 in Moorefield, West Virginia. Worked on dam construction management, streambank stabilization, watering facilities, waste storage facilities, and post-frame structure design and construction. Transferred to the NRCS West Virginia State Office to work on planning, design, and construction management of several watershed program projects, mostly dam and dam rehabilitation projects. Accepted the State Conservation Engineer position in 2013. Manage planning, design, and implementation of engineering practices for NRCS in West Virginia. Responsible for providing technical assistance for 170 high hazard potential NRCS-assisted dams; with 18 current dam rehabilitation projects.
