Findlay Engineering
Dr. R. Craig Findlay, PE, GE, D.GE has been in private dam safety consulting practice as Findlay Engineering. Inc. since 1998 and has practiced civil/geotechnical engineering for over 45 years with over 36 years of experience in dam engineering. Craig has been a FERC approved Independent Consultant since 1996 for dams owned and operated by electrical utilities and generators nationwide. He is currently serving on four Boards if Consultants for FERC regulated dams and is a Dam Safety Panal Member for TransAlta in Alberta Canada. He a licensed professional engineer in 14 states, and a licensed geotechnical engineer in California. He is an ASCE Life Member and worked on the ASCE Energy Division’s Task Committees charged with drafting “Guidelines for Instrumentation and Measurements for Monitoring Dam Performance” (2000) and its successor “Monitoring Dam Performance” (2018). He is a Board-Certified Geotechnical Engineer (ASCE/GI) and has been an ASDSO member for the past 27 years. He is past-Chair for the ASDSO Board’s Advisory Committee (AdCom) and was editor of the ASDSO Dam Safety Journal for several years. Craig has presented and published technical papers on seismic analysis of dams, dam seepage, dam remediation, dam stability, grouting, reservoir erosion and in situ soil property measurement for technical societies including USCOLD, ASDSO, ASCE, ICOG, Canadian Geotechnical Society, American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Transportation Research Board.
