As a civil/geotechnical engineer, I have over 10 years of experience working on civil engineering projects dealing with geotechnical problems related to problematic soils, which helped me combine my academic knowledge with practical experience in soil improvement and work effectively as a team member during my later studies. My work focuses on soil improvement techniques and how to effectively utilize them for improving the characteristics of problematic soils and decreasing the probable problems resulting from them.
To this end, I have studied soil improvement techniques in numerical studies including FLAC3D, PLAXIS2D, and ABAQUS, experimental studies in the laboratory, and also field tests to verify the efficiency of the proposed methods for particular problematic soils. I continued my efforts in academia and initiated several collaborations, leading to multiple papers in the field of geotechnical engineering, focusing on soil improvement techniques. In one of my collaborations, the liquefaction of soil medium was studied from both numerical and experimental perspectives using deep soil mixing columns. In another experimental research, the application of wall-type gravel and rubber drains in liquefaction mitigation in silty sand and pure sand was investigated and improved considerably.
