Ms. Zahra Zahmatkesh is a Water Resources Engineer based in KGS Group’s Seattle Office. With over 11 years of research and consulting experience in Water Resources, Ms. Zahmatkesh has worked and lived in both Canada and the United States. Her extensive knowledge in watershed hydrology and urban stormwater management, coupled with advanced skills in the development and calibration of hydrologic models and preparation of hydraulic models, floodplain mapping, flood analysis, and climate change impacts assessment, make her an asset to the industry.
Ms. Zahmatkesh's experience includes serving as a hydrotechnical engineer on dam safety review studies and conducting PMP/PMF review and analysis for clients in Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba. She earned her Ph.D. in water resources management, specializing in the assessment of climate adaptability and flood resilience in coastal urban areas, with particular emphasis on a New York City watershed area.
Moreover, Ms. Zahmatkesh has completed post-doctoral assignments on various hydrologic, hydraulic, and floodplain mapping aspects. Her work included preparing a framework for quantifying uncertainties in probabilistic flood modeling, while taking into account the impacts of climate change. She worked with the FloodNet research program across Canada, collaborating with partners and stakeholders in both the United States and Canada. Ms. Zahmatkesh is a highly skilled and experienced water resources engineer with a passion for innovative solutions and continued learning.
